Early results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the Anambra elections in ten of the 21 local government area showed that the Incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance is ahead in the polls.
In Onitsha East Local government area, governor Peter Obi, swept the polls recording a total of 10, 617 votes. The Action Congress got 3, 511 votes while the PDP polled 1, 624 votes. The other results were LP with 860 votes, HDP with 543 votes, and PPA with 206 votes.
APGA also maintained the lead in Awka South Local Government Area where it got 6, 082 votes. AC came second with 3, 718 votes, while the PDP followed with 3, 084 votes. The LP, HDP, and PPA tagged behind with 1, 588, 364, and 312 votes respectively.
At Ogbaru Local Government Area, APGA again coasted home with 5, 280 votes, followed by AC with 1, 870 votes, and PDP with 1, 806 votes while LP, HDP, and PPA trailed with 862, 487, and 197 votes respectively.
APGA repeated its wining streak at Ekwusigo Local government raking 4, 030 votes to beat PDP which got 2, 912 votes. AC came third with 2, 454 and HDP got 1, 207 votes while LP and PPA got 649 and 503 votes respectively.
